ThinPrint receives European basic patent for bandwidth
management
The European Patent Office granted the
patent in twenty European countries.
(Berlin, June 2007) The European Patent Office had already
granted ThinPrint GmbH a patent (EP 1 262 035 B1) on May 31,
2006, on a process of transferring data in networks, which is
the technical basis of bandwidth management in networks.
Core of the process is limitation of the bandwidth for one or
more data streams so that other applications do not become
influenced. The patent is a classic process patent and not one
of the controversial software patents.
"We are pleased about this confirmation that ThinPrint is
inventor and legitimate owner of the bandwidth management
technology. Our technology is a milestone for distributed
networks and has been used for years in thousands of
companies," states Carsten Mickeleit, Managing Director of
ThinPrint GmbH. "This patent is an important part of our
strategic patent portfolio, but at the same time, it is also
recognition for our high investments in research and
development."
As a company oriented towards both partners and customers,
ThinPrint offers fairly priced retroactive licensing for
manufacturers who use or would like to use this technology.
Customers and manufacturers who want to know whether the
software they use or sell is affected by the patent can
